Technical Work at ICT (2015-2018)

It's difficult to show off the technical art I've done in the past few years, but here's a brief description:

  • Scripted C# character texture & model swapping & placement system in Unity.
  • Wrote python & batch scripts to automate 32bit EXR scanned image processing with ImageMagick.
  • Created Python scripts to batch bake sbsar files into textures using the Substance Automation Toolkit.
  • Set up facial blend shapes for Zippy character for Unity.
  • File exporter: Exports 3d file of choice (fbx/obj/etc) from Maya, with options on how to copy all textures.

Mel/Python Scripting in Maya

When I arrived at ICT a lot of models were in a pretty rough state, they had come from interns, purchased online and some were scans. Many needed reworking as well as new assets.

FileMonster Lite

FileMonster (Full)

I have the full version of this script for sale on creative crash. There is also a free 'lite' version.

AAfter trying to sort through lots of 3d files and figure out which ones I could import & what they looked like I got really frustrated, so I made a tool to make things easier. Whether you're perusing downloaded 3d files, organizing your 3d print files in non-native formats, going through old files or looking at models/animations files which you outsourced, this is a great little viewer that filters only shows files that you can import or open in Maya.

2017 update: Removed DXF & IGS/IGES file formats as Maya 2017/2018 no longer supports those through direct-connect.

Features:

  • Browse 3d files supported by Maya: .ma .mb .obj .fbx .dae(Collada) .abc(Alembic) .stl .stp .step .dwg
  • R-click model options to import, reference or delete.
  • Show files in subfolders. You can select how many levels deep to go.
  • Sort by name, size or date
  • Browse folders with option to hide.
  • Shows up to 7 mini icons per file which let you jump from icon to icon.
  • Batch file (all or selected) icons or quick render individually. Includes subfolders.
  • Auto-move your icons. Propagates all your icons if you change or move your icon directory.
  • Custom set where your icons are saved.
  • R-click icon options: delete or open dir.
  • JPG and/or PNG icons
  • Flexible naming: Reads any JPG or PNG icons with the same name as file plus up to 3 characters after. ie - Franky_01.png, FrankyABC.jpg. Prints 'recommend name change' were icons were found but not used. ie - Franky_OldVersion_55.png
  • Auto number icons to '_99'. Puts the first 7 icons it finds in the mini-icons.
  • Icons auto fit proportionally into the view size you set.
  • Icons are auto-named during creation and will also auto-named if auto-moved... lots of 'auto'.
  • Compatible with Maya 2010-2014. Not compatible with Maya 2009 or ealier.
  • Mac & PC compatible. Should work on Linux but not tested.

What's included

  • 47 custom icons for the UI
  • pwFileMonster.pyc (for Maya 2010-2013 and 2014)

Uses for this script:

 • Organize and browse

 • Outsourcing

 • Downloaded models

 • 3d print files

• Client files

• CAD files

• Importing lots of files into one file
