Video Game Artist
Welcome to my online portfolio, showcasing work I've done over the years in the video game & VR industries. The work you see on this site is mostly created by me, unless otherwise noted (with the exception of video game logos).
I was most recently employed for several years at ICT (Institute for Creative Technologies) in Culver City, CA as a Technical Artist. Before that I worked for over 14 years at Idol Minds video game company in Colorado, where Sony was our primary publisher. I started out designing user interfaces, then moved into environment modeling & texturing, then onto characters and became lead character artist. I also took on a lead role and oversaw anywhere between 1-10 artists. I've worn many hats and am proficient at animation, character rigging, writing python/mel scripts. I've worked on 9 shipped video game titles and I've learned an immense amount. I'm really good at troubleshooting issues with game engines, cooperating well with people and I can help in many parts of the art pipeline.
Skills:
2019: Personal WIP project done in ZBrush, Maya, Arnold.
Made with ZBrush and Keyshot.
Dshk weapon: Modeled & textured in Maya, a few created pieces in ZBrush and textured in Painter.

A screenshot from Pain on the PS3, I was lead character artist & tech artist. I rigged most of the characters including faces, set up havok constraints, and set up the launcher rig.
Neopets was a great video game to work on. Did a quick uprez of one of the (low rez) faeries I modeled & textured for Neopets on the PS2.
I built various Maya python tools for rigging and other things that could be automated. This is a character rig for one of the enemies from Warrior's Lair.
In game screenshot from Warrior's Lair.
I built various Maya python tools, since we had a custom game engine I built a tool to automate cutting and updating files. This was also integrated with Perforce. Character is from Warrior's Lair.
The 9 shipped video games done while at Idol Minds.
File Monster: a Maya python script to browse 3d files, auto creates thumbnails, right-click options to import or reference files.
Neopets: Robert, one of the 2 main characters. I modeled, textured & rigged. I also animated the majority of her animations.
Pain for the PS3: What can I say, this game was a lot of fun to work on. Promo image I made, paint over of some of our posed characters. Maya/Photoshop.
A kid's book, wrote & illustrated.
Concept art for an enemy I drew.
For this project I reworked & fixed all the characters and environments to update them to modern times. New textures, model cleanup, new lighting.
A personal character, concepted & modeled.
I created a Substance Designer network that would help automate fixing scanned heads. Built in adjustable perameters like freckles, skin texture, skin color/shading and other details.
Logo for Bravemind, an app to help treat PTSD.
Rock material made in Substance Designer, rendered in Marmoset.
